On a pebbled field, bare head of Verwoerd, left. On a raised band around above: HENDRIK FRENSCH VERWOERD and below between laurel sprigs: 1901-1966
Reverse:
On a pebbled field, bare head of Strijdom, right. On a raised band above: JOHANNES GERHARDUS STRIJDOM and below between laurel sprigs: 1893-1958.
Notes:
The medals come cased with a certificate. The certificate states that in total 250 medals were made of 18ct gold; 500 medal in sterling silver and 1,250 medals in bronze. The medals were issued in 250 triple sets, 250 twin sets, 250 single silver and 750 single bronze.
The bronze & silver pair of medals comes inside an oblong maroon fitted leather-like case with: "VERWOERD-STRIJDOM" in gilded letters on the top of the lid and "bickles" inside. The medals displayed here here are a pair, both stamped A111 on the edge.

Hendrik Frensch Verwoerd (1901 1966) was the seventh Prime Minister of South Africa from 1958 until his assassination in 1966. He lead the country during the establishment of the Republic in 1961 and is chiefly remembered as the architect of apartheid.
Johannes Gerhardus Strijdom (1893 1958) was the sixth Prime Minister of South Africa from 1954 until his death 1958. He was an uncompromising Afrikaner nationalist and paved the way for independence from Great Britain and the establishment of apartheid.
