This is a genuine South African 5 Shillings (Crown) dated 1949, issued during the reign of King George VI. These crowns were struck in Silver (.800) and are among the most recognisable large-format South African silver coins.
The coin is a circulated example and shows honest wear, surface marks, and light edge knocks, consistent with age and real circulation. Detail remains clear overall, particularly on the springbok reverse, and the coin has not been cleaned, polished, or altered.
