This is a genuine South African 5 Shillings (Crown) issued in 1952 to commemorate the 300th anniversary of the arrival of Jan van Riebeeck at the Cape of Good Hope (16521952). This commemorative crown was struck in Silver (.500) and differs from the regular circulation crowns of the period.
The coin is a circulated example and shows honest wear, surface marks, and light toning, consistent with age and handling. Detail remains visible on both sides, including the commemorative ship design and the portrait of King George VI. The coin has not been cleaned, polished, or altered.
