Samson was an Israelite judge from Biblical times, famous for his strength. Delilah, a Philistine, was paid to find the secret of Samson's strength, so that her people could overthrow their Israelite enemies. Samson fell in love with Delilah and told her that his strength lay in his hair. She shaved his head while he slept and the Philistines captured and blinded him. When his hair grew back, Samson avenged himself by pulling down a Philistine temple, killing himself and many of his enemies
