A Type I  1st South African Infantry Regiment Shoulder Title , a 2nd South African Infantry Regiment Shoulder Title & a 4th South African Infantry Tam O'Shanter Badge with the original Murray of Athol Tartan material backing. The South African government raised 4 Infantry Regiments to assist the British Forces in France, from local volunteers. The Regiments participated in offensive action at Longueval & Delville Wood in 1916 , as well as at Ypres in 1917 & Marrieres Wood in 1918.
