An EXCELLENT example of WW1 Union Defence Force- Pair of Officer's Leather Mounted Infantry Boots. This set appears to be in a VF state , with footwear complete & all Wooden Boot Trees. All manufacturer/ outfitter markings present. Evidence of handling/ age-related wear is visible on surface.
Hatton Bros Ltd. , were well known manufacturers of leather equipment and footwear for military application. These Boots were made expressly for Johannesburg based Uniform Outfitters, Safrics - who are still suppliers of uniforms and military equipment for private purchase.
These items would have been worn by UDF Officers either during the South-West Africa or East African Campaigns between 1914 & 1918.
