YEAR : 1941
SIZE : Large
MODEL : No.4 MKIII Respirator
An EXCELLENT example of an Original Second World War (1939-45) Canadian Supplied 1941 No.4 MK III Respirator with Filter - as used by South African Servicemen in the Union Defence Force. The industrial demands of World War II , left South Africa with a manufacturing shortfall - which was ameliorated by Military Hardware supplied by other Commonwealth Nations. Canadian Acceptance and Proof Marks remain in the form of a Broad Arrow within a Letter "C".
This item is 81 years old and displays signs of general wear visible - with slight perishing of the Rubber lining edge of the Mask interior , which remains 90% intact. Wear is also evident on two Head retention straps that appear to have come loose from the fastening buckles. Overall, still a wonderfully well preserved piece of Soldier's personal kit.
An ideal addition to any World War II, South African/ Commonwealth Militaria collection or display- for the enthusiast seeking a genuine period piece for their private assortment.
