An EXCELLENT assortment of WW2 / 1950s - South African Artillery/ South African Air Force Clinometer , Range Instruments & Sighting Prism. These items remain in a well-preserved state, but will display signs of age-related surface wear due to handling. The Artillery Clinometer is War Department marked for 1942 and would have been used to adjust for Barrel angle of elevation & direction. This would have been supplemented with the use of the Range Board Mk I & Optical Prism placed within three No.2 Mk II Range Finder for improved accuracy.
The Aristo-Aviat Nr.617 Index Board Flight Computer & Slide-rule would have been utilised by Pilots, for the computation of speed, distance, time , fuel consumption, altitude & density. Precision Instruments of this variety , would have been indispensable to South African Military personnel during the Second World War & Korean War respectively.
