YEAR : 1945

MANUFACTURER: Briggs Motor Bodies Ltd. (BMB), Dagenham.

CAPACITY: 20 Litres.

An EXCELLENT example of a WW2 British War Department Marked Fuel 'Jerrycan' Container. This piece appears to be in a well-preserved state, having been painted in a Brown/Sand combination colour scheme. Manufacturer & Date marks are evident. The 'Jerrycan ' pattern of fuel cannister was adopted by the Allies in the early 1940s - being a direct clone of the German innovative design.

The 20 Litre capacity 'Jerrycan' proved to be an ideal solution for Fuel storage - being developed in 1937 by Müller Engineering GmbH and consisting of mild steel pressings seam welded together. First utilised during the Spanish Civil War , the design became popular worldwide amongst all belligerents post-1940.

The ideal addition to any Second World War,  British War Department Marked Vehicle equipment collection or display.
