The Institution, known as Talbot House , was first founded in 1915 for Troops of the British Army as a Rest and Recreational Facility for those returning from the trenches of Ypres and Popperinge. Several Chapters were established throughout the Commonwealth and proved popular in Australia and South Africa by the advent of World War II.
