An EXCELLENT example of a Xhosa Frontier Wars, 1853 Enfield Socket Bayonet. This piece appears to be in a Fair, preserved state , with exposure related pitting and discoloration from elemental exposure. Marks are indistinguishable and obscured by rust damage. Evidence of handling/ age-related wear is visible on surface.
A piece such as this, would have been utilised by British Soldiers with the .577 Enfield Rifle-Musket during the Frontier Wars against Xhosa Military formations (1779-1878).
