This piece remains in an FAIR ,USED CONDITION- Blade & mounting socket is present. Bayonet remains in a preserved State and has been utilised. Signs of Wear evident due to handling. ** PIECE HAS BEEN FOUND ON A PROPERTY & BEEN EXPOSED TO THE ELEMENTS.**

** NO SCABBARD - BAYONET ONLY !! **

An EXCELLENT example of a Xhosa Frontier Wars,  1853 Enfield Socket Bayonet. This piece appears to be in a Fair, preserved  state , with exposure related pitting and discoloration from elemental exposure. Marks are indistinguishable and obscured by rust damage. Evidence of handling/ age-related wear is visible on surface. 

A piece such as this, would have been utilised by British Soldiers with the .577 Enfield Rifle-Musket during the Frontier Wars against Xhosa Military formations (1779-1878).

The ideal addition to any Early South African Military Bayonet / Frontier War Relic collection or display- for the enthusiast seeking a unique period piece for their assortment.
