March 1973 June 1976 June 1978 May 1979
Not pristine, have been read and paged through, but fascinating nevertheless. Need to add to your collection? Want great books for school projects? Want to see where the earth was before global warming?
In the May '79 periodical there's a great story on the challenge to climb the world's second highest mountain known as K2 in Pakistan's karakoram Range that took place in September 1978. We have come a long way since then. Beautiful pictures too.
In the March '73 periodical there is a very interesting article on Chan Chan - Peru's Ancient City of Kings, and all the ancient treasures found there. They even left Makers marks on some of their adobe bricks !!! now thats dedication to your trade. - This one has a pen mark "36" on the cover and spine - see pic
In the June 1976 periodical, another fascinating story about treasure - this time from a sunken Spanish galleon off the Florida coast in 1622. At the time of its discovery and the subsequent find of it's treasure, estimated in those days to be worth more than 100 million dollars - whew - legal entanglements and tragedy still eluded the crew of the salvage ship. !!! Should be a book!!
In the June '78 periodical, yet another story about treasure - this time about sunken ships off the Turkish coast in the Aegean seas, yielding predominantly glass, and some of it from the Byzantine era ! Also in this edition a wonderful article about flight, from the time aeroplanes were first discovered to the walk on the moon, some great photos too, even one of Armstrongs gloves which had a stitched on checklist of tasks - have you ever ?
