Celebrating the Chinese zodiac, the has released its third design in its Shengxio Collection. Each coin was struck with one troy ounce of .999 fine silver and is eligible for placement into precious metal IRAs. Only 138,888 Year of the Monkey Silver Coins were minted worldwide.
The reverse pays tribute to the monkey, the ninth animal in the zodiac. The design by Wuon-Gean Ho, a British-Chinese artist, depicts a monkey leaping from a tree with its arms outspread. Another monkey can be seen swinging in the distance amid the leaves hanging from the long, slim tree. YEAR OF THE MONKEY, 1 OZ FINE SILVER 999 and 2016 are inscribed. A Chinese symbol for monkey is stamped beneath the primate.
People born in 1920 and every 12th year after are thought to be optimistic, intelligent, quick-witted and fearless. Individuals that are born during the year of the monkey do well in banking, science, film, and engineering careers.
A profile of Queen Elizabeth II graces the obverse of this round. The elegant, right-facing portrait is the fifth image of Her Majesty to be displayed on circulating coinage. Inscriptions read 2 POUNDS, ELIZABETH II and D.G. REG. F.D.
