Ulrich Schwanecke has had more than 50 one-man shows in South Africa. He has also had 2 in Germany in 1973. His work is represented in the Pretoria Art Museum,in public art galleries and municipal collections in Kimberley, Windhoek. Lichtenburg, Pietersburg, Sandton, Ermelo, Swakopmund, Queenstown, East London and in many private collections and business institutions such as Barlow Rand, the Stock Exchange, Anglo American and Total S.A., to name only some. In 1975 he began painting panoramic triptyches, or "three-in-ones" or "four-in-ones" an innovation in water-colour painting - Schwanecke's only medium. Schwanecke's subject is almost exclusively landscape, depicting unpopulated, rugged terrain and arid vistas.
