Aloe peglerae is found mainly on the Magaliesberg and Witwatersberg, from Pretoria westwards to Rustenburg and southwards to Krugersdorp.
Plants grow as solitary rosettes or rarely form small groups. Stems are very short or absent. The leaves curve inwards, resulting in a neat, rounded head.
The remarkably short inflorescence is usually simple and unbranched, with a robust, bicoloured raceme. Each flower is dull red in the bud stage but becomes pale greenish yellow when it opens, with conspicuous dark purple stames protruding for some 25 mm from the mouth of the tube.
The single, dense racemes, which are borne directly above the rosttes, are exceptionally large for such a small plant.
Aloe peglaerae flowers in July and August and makes a spectacular display when in the flower especially when planted in a group.
As a result of the localised distribution near a densely populated area, this beautiful species has become endangered.
This Aloe is perfectly suited for cold and frosty gardens as well as warm and humid gardens. Well drained soil should be given and the plants can be watered once a month.
The plants on offer are all more than 10 cm in diameter and have all been grown from seed. They are 5 years old.
Please note that this offer includes 10 plants + 2 for FREE and includes FREE postage and packing!!
