Bergeranthus is a small genus of mesembs, naturally occurring in the Southern and Eastern Cape of South Africa. They are named after the botanist Alwin Berger. The name literally means Berger's flower. The genus is further distinguished by the long flower stalks and sweetly scented flowers.
Bergeranthus scapiger grows in full sun. It originates from the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa. It is a mat-forming succulent with leaves in pairs. The longer leave is up to 12 cm long and the other slightly shorter. It has lots of golden flowers, 5 cm in diameter during summer.
