They are native to many parts of the globe, but cultivated varieties are almost exclusively from the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa. Crassulas make the most wonderful pot plants. Crassula lanceolata is a South African endemic species from the Eastern Cape, Free State, Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, Limpopo, Mpumalanga, Northern Cape, North West and Western Cape Provinces. It is synonymously known as Crassula filamentosa. Crassula lanceolata grows to 15 cm tall. It has a carrot-like root which produces new branches each year. During summer it bears white or yellow flowers.
