Dieramas may be found from the southern Cape northwards through eastern Africa to Ethopia and from sea level to the the top of the Drakensberg escarpment at 10,000'.

Dierama draconmontanum or, as it is commonly known Angel’s Fishing Rod, comes from the Drakensberg range from the Orange Free State to the eastern Cape. It can be so common as to dominate entire mountain slopes between 5000' and 9000'. It is a clump forming plant that forms corms underground and will grow up to 45 cm in height. From mid-summer onwards it produces the most attractive coral pink flowers on graceful arching stems.
