Odontophorus species thrive in containers outside of their habitat. They are best grown in well-drained soil. Seeds germinate readily and plants can also be grown from cuttings. They are all winter growing. They are found in the vicinity of Steinkopf in the Richtersveld. Odontophorus nanus is South African endemic species from the Northern Cape Province. It is synonymously known as Odontophorus albus, Odontophorus areolatus, Odontophorus herrei, Odontophorus nudifolius and Odontophorus prumulinus. It has a clump-forming habit. It has grey to dark green leaves with dentate margins and from winter to spring it bears creamy yellow flowers.
