Orthopterum is a genus of succulent plants in the family Aizoaceae, subfamily Mesembryanthemoideae. They are low, clump-forming plants with thick, fleshy leaves and yellow flowers. Orthopterum waltoniae is a South African endemic species found from Addo to Grahamstown in the Eastern Cape Province. It is usually found growing in Albany thicket on rocky shale soils. It is a short-stemmed perennial succulent plant forming low clumps by branching. It looks like a short, fat Ice Plant but doesn't spread by running roots. It also looks like a Faucaria without teeth.
