The height of fine dining decadence, this absolute treasure of a dessert set will make quite a statement at your table of occasion.
Imagine after dinner casually enjoying a summer fruit cocktail served with continental silver and plated in gold. This is luxury!
This supremely elegant cutlery set was made by the famous West German cutlers and knife makers, Solingen.
The handles of the knives and forks are of cased silver, probably of 800 purity as is found in other sets of this kind made by Solingen. There is a stamp on the front and back of the collars, but too faint to discern.
The knives and forks themselves are of gold plated stainless steel, possibly 24 carat, and clearly bear the name 'Solingen' on the sides of each knife.
The cutlery is dainty, light to handle and still quite sharp. Perfect for fruit or pastries.
The set is in excellent condition, with no tarnishing at all. None of the pieces are loose at the handles. None of the handles are split or cracked.
Gold plated cutlery also does not tarnish and never needs polishing.
It does have some age to it and is most certainly not a modern set. Although we do not know its precise vintage, by the style of the handles it could possibly date from around the early 20th Century.
Please take note the pieces are without their original box and are sold without a case.
An absolutely stunning find, it would make the ultimate gift, and turn any festive occasion into a feast fit for a king.
