Pleiospilos simulans Seeds

Stone Plants, Split Rocks, Mimicry Plants

Pleiospilos or Split Rocks is a clump forming, stemless, perennial succulent mesemb family native to South Africa. The opposite globe shaped leaves are dark grey to light green with many conspicuous raised dark dots. Leaves will reach up to 5 cm long and wide. They are very easy to grow and very showy when in flower. This is one the whole family can enjoy! Get the kids involved and watch their amazement as the seeds transform to little seedlings and keep growing bigger every year. The plants are hardy down to -5°C. The platblaar-lewerplant, Pleiospilos simulans usually has a single leaf pair, but with age could become forked-branched. The leaves are very large, spreading and comparatively flat. This is a rare and localised species, found only in the Tanqua Karoo near the southeastern Great Karoo.
