Vermont Appaloosa Beans are a traditional heirloom variety running (pole) bean. The beans are slender and slightly curved with jagged purple and white markings. Grow in full sun, ready to harvest in 61 to 70 days. Although compact, 45cm to 60cm, they frequently develop short runners. Green pods are flat, 12.5cm long and 1.5cm wide, and contain 4 to 6 kidney-shaped seeds. The many variations occurring in the mottling, like the rump of an Appaloosa pony is absolutely amazing. Can be snapped when young, but are usually dried and shelled.
