Watsonia is a genus of plants in the Iridaceae family native to South Africa. The genus is named after Sir William Watson, a British botanist.

There are 52 species in southern Africa; all are perennial herbs growing from corms and producing erect spikes of showy flowers, and are adapted to a mediterranean-type climate.

Watsonia fourcadei is a South African endemic species from the Eastern Cape and Western Cape Provinces. It was previously known as Watsonia ryderae, Watsonia stanfordiae and Watsonia stohrii. This evergreen species grows from 100cm to 200cm tall. During summer it bears pink/orange/red flowers and is a very easy species in cultivation. The seeds can be sown in spring or summer.
