Watsonia is a genus of plants in the Iridaceae family native to South Africa. The genus is named after Sir William Watson, a British botanist.

There are 52 species in southern Africa; all are perennial herbs growing from corms and producing erect spikes of showy flowers, and are adapted to a mediterranean-type climate.

Watsonia stokoei is a South African endemic species from the Western Cape Province. It is commonly known as Suurknol. It grows from 35cm to 90cm tall. It has 5 leaves with lightly thickened midveins and margins. From spring to summer it bears light scarlet red flowers.
