This catalogue showcases the wealth of photographic and artistic talent evident at the first Cape Town Month of Photography, a festival of photography organised by the South African Centre for Photography at the University of Cape Town. Approximately 430 photographers participated in the project, which involved 107 solo and curated exhibitions. The festival also included a number of virtual exhibitions which can be viewed on the Internet. Over 120 images from these exhibitions have been included in this catalogue which demonstrates the talent, vibrancy and diversity of contemporary photography in South Africa. The catalogue also provides background information on individual photographers and photographic groupings, and documents their ideas and thoughts on their works and photography today.
