Like many of the cheaper, mass produced chinese inverters - they work fine, but you need to keep in mind the do not come with a traditional SA 3 prong plug - but the 2 prong fits fine so you might have to convert an extension lead in your house. The supplier I used says that this is 500w constant and 1000W boost, yet on the box it says 1000w constant and 2000w boost. More than enough anyway to power DSTV and most flat screen TV's.
I will be trying mine out - will just be running DSTV and TV and will be keeping an eye on the voltage in the battery as I will be using it off the car battery. It does have an under voltage alarm ( 10.4V- 11.0V) At some point I will buy a deep cycle battery - you can damage a car battery using an inverter for long periods.
After using I will update this with how it performs - just want to let people know that they do not have to wait 2 months and pay customs duties.
Used mine last night - power the DSTV and TV (32in LED) - work very well. Car battery went from 13V - 12V - so no problem there, but will be looking out for a deep cycle. Inverter worked well, did not get hot at all.
Have now moved to a deep cycle battery next to my TV. Works brilliantly - inverter has a fan which you can hear - it's as loud as my laptop and does not bother me - cannot hear it over the TV.
Item is in SA - normally I post next day, so using PostNet you can have it in around 3 working days/ SAPO - 4 - 7 working days.
No guarantees are given and you should know a bit about electricity before buying.
