101-year-old red copper cheese bowl

ONE-OF-A-KIND FIND 

This rich-red copper bowl is definitely one-of-a-kind.

The lovely old bowl has been bashed and beaten from use in a cheese factory for the better part of 101 years until today it is, with its warm reddish hues, a much sought after, characterful item of home décor.

A brass plaque attached to the bowl states: "Clarke Bros & Brown (1913) Ltd. Dairy Creamery and Cheese Factory".

The thick-walled copper bowl weighs 1.739kg, is roughly 40cm in diameter (after years of use it is not completely round) and the height to the rounded rim is roughly 13cm.

There is a raised circular centre portion inside the bowl around which are small holes, I guess to allow the whey to drain during the cheese making process.

Altogether a most attractive item of décor, or it will make a lovely and most unusual planter already having drainage holes.
