It is a practical solution to manage a battery- or solar-powered system at certain times on certain days of the week (open at 7:45am and close at 6:00pm Monday to Friday for example). The 1-second interval makes it possible to control loads that need to be on/off for a few seconds only, such as fish feeders and animal feeders, gates or doors.
