Common Name: Mountain Garland Clarkia unguiculata or Mountain Garland as it is commonly known is an easy to grow delightful annual flower, native to California. Compact blossoms are arranged on spikes in soft pastel shades of pink, magenta and purplish hues. The tall stems are deep purple in color making identification easy prior to flowering. Mountain Garland will re-grow the following spring if the seed falls on bare ground. It can tolerate a wide range of environmental conditions but heavy clay soils should be avoided. Simply scatter the seed on loosened soil and then compress the seed into the dirt. Do not cover with soil. These are easy to grow and they make good cut flowers.
