Evidence shows that children begin to benefit from play that involves blocks, legos and similar toys, at a very young age.
Recent studies have been done that show that block play also contributes to the development of verbal skills. The results of the tests, done with one to two year olds, showed that block play for 15-20 minutes per day, increased the development of verbal skills by 15%. This study also showed that these kids were 80% less likely to watch TV.

From the time they can see, the bright primary colors of blocks provide stimulation for developing minds and can help to create a bright and cheery atmosphere. Babies are naturally attracted to bright colors.

When children begin to hold and examine toys, they are most likely to be challenged by reaching for bright colored objects. Large, interlocking blocks, separated from each other, are small enough to be grasped by tiny hands and too large to fit into their mouths. This game helps to develop eye hand coordination and babies whose attention spans are naturally short, can be occupied with just a couple different colored blocks for some time.
