Wiring is a necessary procedure for bonsai cultivation. As you take care of the bonsai tree you will have branches that grow and need to be shaped in order to achieve your stylistic goal or bonsai style. It is therefore important to select and purchase your wire cutter wisely.

Bonsai growers today are spoilt for choice but far too often make the mistake of purchasing very cheap tools which quickly corrode, bend, develop blunt cutting edges and more.

I have often seen people using tools which are not intended for the purpose which they are attempting. This wire cutter is designed for use on aluminium wire only and not copper. Furthermore it is best used on wire thinner than 4mm. For thicker wire you will need a larger tool.

The wire cutter is one of the key and most useful tools for any bonsai grower. Once the applied wire has done its job and the branch stays in the wired position, the wire must be removed. Uncoiling the wire can have disastrous results such as tearing the bark and cambium from the branch, or worse still breaking off the entire branch or adjacent smaller twigs. It is best to cut the wire from the tree.
