An unusual and highly decorative antique brooch fashioned from a genuine 1708 British silver half crown of Queen Anne. The reverse of the coin has been beautifully enameled in vivid cobalt blue with highlighted heraldic shields and crowned cross motif, creating an eye-catching piece of antique jewellery and numismatic history.
The original coin is the Edinburgh Mint issue, identifiable by the E beneath Queen Annes bust on the obverse. Catalogued as KM#525, this half crown dates from the early years following the Union of England and Scotland and contains sterling silver. The brooch fitting has been securely mounted to the obverse, allowing the detailed enameled reverse to be displayed when worn.
This is an appealing collectible for lovers of British coins, antique brooches, heraldic jewellery, or Queen Anne memorabilia. Ideal as a display piece or wearable antique.
Condition - VF
The brooch is in very good antique condition. The blue enamel remains bright and attractive with some age-related crazing and minor surface wear. The silver shows expected rubbing and tarnish from age. Pin clasp remains present and functional. As mounted, the obverse of the coin is partly obscured by the brooch fitting.
