Filming yourself. The ring is 45 cm across, which is the size at which the light wraps a face instead of hitting it from one side, and the camera sits in the middle of it so the light arrives from where the lens is looking.
Three phone holders sit on a bar across the centre. That is the part that separates this from a small desk ring. One phone films, a second runs a script or a comment feed, a third records a second angle. Each holder is on its own gooseneck, so they move independently.
256 LEDs sit behind a frosted diffuser, so the face of the ring reads as one continuous band of light rather than a row of dots. That is what stops the hard multiple catchlights you get from a cheap panel.
Brightness and colour temperature are both adjustable from the control panel on the ring, or from the remote if the light is already positioned and you do not want to reach past the camera.
It mounts on a yoke with a thumbscrew, so it tilts and locks at an angle rather than only sitting square. The clamp underneath takes a standard stand thread.
It runs from a mains adapter rather than a battery. That is the trade for the size: an 18 inch ring at 36 W is a working light, not something to carry around, and it is meant to live where you film.
One thing worth knowing before it arrives. At 45 cm this is a full-size ring light and it needs a stand or a desk clamp with some reach. It is not a device that perches on the edge of a laptop.
The ring light, a gimbal head, gooseneck phone clips, a clamp and a remote control, with the mains adapter.
