1860's  Setter's Top hat with it's leather carrycase - see the 7 pics to appreciate!

This rare 1860's Black moleskin Top hat and it's original brown leather carrycase is part of the South African Setter history. The Original brown leather case, has a storng top handle as seen from the first picture, the lid is removed to place the black moleskin Top hat neatly upside down into the crimson velvet lined carry case. The brown leather carry case has been lovingly treated with dubbin over the years, the leather is creased with use and adds character and carries a luggage skicker. The leather strap linking to the clasp to close the case is missing, but the brass clasp is still attached and visable. The inside of the crimson lined carry case still contains parts of the straps to keep the black Top hat in place.

The black moleskin Top Hat stands 145mm in height and fits a large head. The outside of the Top hat has a satin ribbon with a bow tie which fits snugly at the base of the crown (not visable in the pictures - but it's there) and it's the original ribbon, the inside of the Top hat, is lined with a brown leather insert, and the hat inside has been lined with rare white silk - (this is worn in places). The base of the inside of this rare 1860's top hat carries the Queens Seal and logo with the wording " By Special Appointment   LONDON   H. Fleather & Co., Outfitters, East London.

The base of the inside of this rare 1860's top hat carries the Queens Seal and logo with the wording " By Special Appointment   LONDON   H. Fleather & Co., Outfitters, East London.
