Fair Condition

The map is an original 1880 issue and NOT a reproduction.

It measures 543mm x 693mm in total

The map is in full color with only extremely minimal fading visable, the paper is firm and has been well preserved. The map is unfortunately damaged in places. There is a 10cm tear along the centre fold, the top left and bottom right corners are dog-eared with the bottom right corner being slightly torn along the fold. There is also some slight riffling damage to the very top of the page, quite common in these types of maps. Original c.1880 map of Africa and colour keyed to indicate the colonial possession of the continent at that time. The map is by William Shawe, who was espicialy known for the quality of his maps of the African continent at that time. The map retains very good eye appeal and would be ideal for framing.
