The Staats-Almanak served as the official yearbook of the Boer Republic, printed annually between 1877 and 1899. These volumes were not issued to the public, but used by government offices making surviving examples extremely rare, especially from the later years of independence before British annexation (18991902).
The 1897 edition is particularly important as it reflects the administrative and political state of the Z.A.R. following the Jameson Raid, under President Paul Krugers third term.
