1898 ZAR Penny (1D) "Sammy Marks Collection" NGC Graded MS63RB!!!
A rare piece from the collection of the famous Sammy Marks. Sammy Marks was an industrialist and businessman who had close links to Paul Kruger and had amassed a fine collection of ZAR coins. Mostly of his collection lay untouched for decades and then was auctioned and some graded by the NGC to capture the history of each and every one of the pieces. He in fact stated in his will of 1908 that these coins were not to be sold for 100 years, and so in 2008 they were removed from the safe in which they were kept. This is one such piece from the esteemed collection. An absolutely beautifully preserved piece which is mostly red. Please see following pictures...
