Commander Holland arrived in 1899 from Bombay, India as a Captain to perform his duties at the Naval Transport Work in Durban. He was well received , doing his job exceptionally well , which was ackowledged by his fellow colleagues on numerous occassions.Upon his promotion in 1901 to Commander and departure for Rangoon, Burma , he presented this HALLMARKED BIRMINGHAM (1899-1900) SILVER SNUFF/TOBACCO BOX to The Naval Transport Work in Durban South Africa during the BOER WAR 1899-1901 as a SOUVENIR .(Please read the scans of the information below with regards to Commander Holland which is taken from the book -Warriors Gate)
