Original Greek statue done by Myron in 455BC. A lot of Roman reproductions but this one is Greek. Funny story is that the original piece done by Myron was found headless and nearby a head was found, so they attached it to the body. So if you research Myrons Discobolus it will say Body by Myron, Head unknown.
This piece is really special due to the sculptor adding a bit of colour, which highly unusual. There is a marking on the front of the plinth which I cannot understand and the one on the bottom of the plinth is very faint.
No chips or cracks.
PLEASE CHECK THUMBNAILS
Although I am a passionate lover of vintage and antique treasures, I am not an expert antiques dealer and can, on occasion, mistakenly identify items. I try my best and spend a lot of time researching every piece, as this is the passion that drives me - the history and stories behind each piece. Pieces may contain imperfections, as is common with wear and age. I select items that pull at my heart. Sometimes these blemishes add to the character and personality of the piece and I fall in love with it, flaws and all. I do my best to show and/or describe the imperfections that I find so you can decide if it's something you will fall in love with as well.
