1902 Colony of Natal Coronation of Edward VII silver medallion. These medals were issued to children attending Natal Government schools. This is the only known occasion where silver medals were issued to South African school children. The Natal Government believed that the financial outlay was a warranted celebration after the anxieties and deprivations of the Boer War. The medallion is 29.2mm, and weighs 11.4g. It has a dark patina from age. Great buy.
