A  Martial Law Road Journey Permit issued after the Second Boer War on 5 June 1902.

"(Available for one journey only) Colesberg District. Mrs. Baartman & Mrs. Kolbe & Mrs Kramer of Colesberg  has authority to proceed by road between Colesberg and Commonage? on 5 June 1902 with Cart & Horse.  To report to Intelligence at Colesberg on arrival, and to return within same day."

With a datestamp of the Office of Administrator & Resident Magistrates Office Colesberg, both dated 5 June 1902.

Although this permit is printed on very thin paper it is still in very good condition, considering it is over a 100 years old!  Some folds and "hingemarks" on the back,  please see scans.
