A pleasing 1910 Belgian Congo 2 Centimes, catalogued as KM#16, struck during the administration of the Belgian Congo under King Albert I of Belgium. These distinctive holed bronze coins are among the most recognisable issues from colonial Central Africa and remain popular with collectors of African and colonial coinage.
The obverse features the inscription "ÉTAT INDÉPENDANT DU CONGO BELGE" surrounding a small six-pointed star motif, with the characteristic central hole. The reverse displays the denomination 2 C. flanking a large five-pointed star, together with the date 1910. The central perforation was designed to make the coin easier to carry and distinguish from other denominations while also reducing production costs.
With its attractive design, historical significance and connection to the early twentieth-century Belgian Congo, this coin represents an excellent addition to collections of African, colonial or world coins.
