1910 Cape Town Highlanders Case with Watch Fob Medal.
A 1910 Cape Town Highlanders Case by Vaughtons Ltd containing an ornate silver-plated or white metal pocket watch fob medal. The case is in good, antique condition with age-appropriate wear. The medal has some light scratching to the cartouche surface with it's hanging loop intact. The medal is unmarked and unengraved so I cannot say with certainty that it is original to the case. I can say, however, that I did receive case and medal as presented and that the medal is period correct.
Established on April 24, 1885, by Scottish immigrants in South Africa, the Cape Town Highlanders (CTH) is a prestigious reserve mechanised infantry regiment with a rich history of service in major conflicts, including the Anglo-Boer War and both World Wars.
Vaughtons, founded in 1819 by Philip Vaughton in Birmingham, is a historic British goldsmith and medalist renowned for crafting prestigious items, including the 1908 Olympic medals and the 1895 FA Cup. Based in the Jewellery Quarter, the firm (now part of WH Darby) specialises in bespoke medals, badges, and luxury, royal-warranted metalwork.
