hand written Bible verse in Dutch, in original frame by Nelly ten Have 1920-1936.

Dimentions: 30cm x 13cm x 1.5cm

Information about Origen of this Unusual old Work

W.ten Have was the owner of "Boek-Kunsthandel"situated at Kalverstreet 154, Amsterdam, between 1920-1939. It is presumed that his wife Nelly ten Have was the maker of this work, as more works (Gezinskaarten) from her pen has been sold in the Netherlands and Belguim.

The Kalverstraat is the busiest shopping street of Amsterdam, the capital of the Netherlands. It is named after the kalvermarkt (calves market) that was held here until the 17th Century. It is also the most expensive shopping street in the Netherlands, with rents of 2400 euros per square meter. In 2006 it was the 21st most expensive street in the world measured by rent prices.
The street begins at Dam Square and ends roughly 750 meters down near the Munttoren tower at Muntplein square. This tower was once a gate in the medieval city walls.
In 1345 a eucharistic miracle was said to have taken place in a home between the Kalverstraat in the Rokin. The event is commemorated by the annual Stille Omgang procession. A chapel, the Heilige Stede, was built on the spot where the miracle was said to have occurred. The Heiligeweg connects the Kalverstraat with this pilgrim chapel, and with Leidsestraat.

Painter Piet Mondrian lived at Kalverstraat 154 from 1892 to 1895.

He was an important contributor to the De Stijl art movement and group, which was founded by Theo van Doesburg. He evolved a non-representational form which he termed Neo-Plasticism. This consisted of white ground, upon which was painted a grid of vertical and horizontal black lines and the three primary colors.
