An EXCELLENT example of a 1920s Clarice Cliff Type I Bizarre Series 'Autumn Crocus ' Handpainted Ceramic Charger. This piece appears to be in a VF/F state , with detailed painted Floral Relief on obverse. All imagery present. Evidence of handling/ age-related wear is visible on surface. Glazed finish is smooth and intact. All Maker's marks evident on reverse. Signs of age-related surface wear due to handling are visible.
The Bizarre Series was introduced by Clarice Cliff in 1927/28 - inspired by Floral design and featured a focus on the 'Autumn Crocus' variety. This series continued production into the late 1950s and early 1960s. All First Type variants will feature the 'Bizarre' marking on the reverse - which was omitted in subsequent years.
