1921-2000 Commanders of the Polish Air Force Wings

History of the Polish aviation proves that its greatest value are people - those who are ready to sacrifice anything for air force cause. Each generation of airmen had a particular mission. Ones were involved in building of our air force, they were trained to pass their patriotic exam in war conditions. Others were contributed to development of the air force in the post-war period, improving their skills, fulfilling the duty of guarding the air borders of the Republic of Poland. Now, their successors face new challenges. In the course of building the Polish Wings air commanders were of crucial importance. They were influencing the shape of our Air Force. They exemplified soldierly attitude, impressed their subordinates with mastery of flying skills, commanding abilities and intellectual, as well moral values. Their professionalism and dedication to service enabled meeting increased requirements - a result of aviation technical development and changing rules and possibilities of its application. However, human aspect of military service has always been more significant at training, organisational or technical needs. Airmen are characterised by the particular esprit de corps which is expressed in their professional passion and bond that links enthusiasts of aviation. Between a commander and his subordinates there have been mutual respect and trust. Now, in the Polish Air Force facing modern challenges and reforms, these values have received new meaning.
