Note to the buyer
Based on the high-resolution photos, here is my assessment of the condition and grading which is subjective and this is my opinion and based on my visual evidence Please note that "grading" was not done by any professional organisation or person but solely by my references to catalogues and other information. While I strive for accuracy, I cannot guarantee that all details and information are 100% correct.
Purchase decisions are made entirely at the buyers discretion.
Obverse (Side 1):
Details: The "GEORGIVS V" lettering is sharp and fully legible. However, there is significant "flatness" on the high points of the crown and the scrolls. The "GEORGIVS" text shows some smoothing but remains legible. The central crown shows wear on the highest points (the bands and the cross atop the crown), but the overall silhouette is strong.
Surface: There is a deep, attractive chocolate-brown patina. I noticed some very light verdigris (green oxidation) in the recessed areas of the scrolls; while common for bronze, it is worth noting for buyers.
Reverse (Side 2):
The tusks show wear, with the internal "ribbing" or detail mostly smoothed over. The fine "growth lines" usually seen on the tusks in uncirculated examples are smoothed over, but the outlines are bold. The date "1921" and the "5" are clear and bold and very crisp..
Surface Quality:
The coin has a dark chocolate-brown patina consistent with circulated bronze. There is some minor "verdegris" (green oxidation) visible in the crevices of the scrolls on the obverse, and some light surface scratches/handling marks.
Edges: The rim is largely intact with no major "rim dings" or significant gouges, which preserves its eye appeal.
Authenticity:
I guarantee this coin to be authentic.
