Issued for the Belgian Congo in 1926, this attractive 1 Franc coin features the Dutch-language legend around the portrait of King Albert I of Belgium. The obverse reads ALBERT KONING DER BELGEN surrounding the crowned bust of Albert I of Belgium facing left, while the reverse shows the denomination 1 F beneath a stylised palm tree with the bilingual colony inscription BELGISCH CONGO.
Struck in copper-nickel, this is the Dutch-text variety catalogued as KM#23 and is increasingly sought after by collectors of African colonial coinage, Belgian Congo issues and early twentieth-century world coins.
Condition:
Shows honest circulation wear with some smoothing to the portrait and palm fronds, but the major design features and legends remain clearly visible. A few light marks and minor rim nicks are present, consistent with age and circulation.
Pictures provided are from the actual piece on offer, please judge condition based on that.
