1930s Framed Felt Appliqué Artwork – "The Hunt" – Equestrian & Hound Scene – Wool Felt – 54cm x 47cm

A nostalgic 1930s -40's felt appliqué artwork titled "The Hunt," beautifully capturing a classic countryside scene. Riders in scarlet coats leap fences on horseback, accompanied by a lively pack of hounds, all set against a vivid felted backdrop.

The scene is created from felt in rich tones of scarlet, acid green, mid and dark green, brown, and blue, with  chain-stitched reins adding fine detail. Originally crafted for use in a fire-screen, this piece has since been framed behind glass in a solid wood frame.

Condition:

• The felt artwork is secure but would benefit from gentle cleaning if removed from the frame.

• There is slight spotting on the inside of the glass.

• The white felt (depicting clouds) has yellowed with age.

• The original backing paper had disintegrated over time and the felt has been taped down to hold it in place.

• The solid wood frame shows some scuff marks appropriate for its age.
